There are public institutions that want the Ten Commandments displayed.
If that is done the penalty for breaking a commandment should also
be displayed. The New Testament teaches that the Old Testament should
be obeyed. This includes both the Commandments and the results of
not following the Commandments.
1. "Thou shalt have no other gods before
me." (Exodus 20:3)
Deuteronomy 13:1-5 "If there arise among you a prophet,
or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder. And
the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee,
saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and
let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that
prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth
you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart
and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and
fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye
shall serve him, and cleave unto him. And that prophet, or that
dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken
to turn you away from the LORD your God ... So shalt thou put the
evil away from the midst of thee."
Exodus 22:20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto
the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

3. Blasphemy
Blasphemy is contemptuous or irreverent talk about God, name and
sacred things.
Leviticus 24:16 "And he that blasphemeth the name of
the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation
shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born
in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be
put to death."
4. Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day,
to keep it holy.
The seventh day Sabbath, incidentally, is Saturday not Sunday.
Exodus 31:14-15 "Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore;
for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely
be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul
shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done;
but in the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever
doeth any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."
5. Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy
mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy
God giveth thee.
Exodus 21:15 And he that smiteth his father, or his mother,
shall be surely put to death.
Exodus 21:17 And he that curseth his father, or his mother,
shall surely be put to death.
Proverbs 23:13-14 "Withhold not correction from the
child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou
shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell."
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 "If a man have a stubborn and
rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or
the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him,
will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother
lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city,
and unto the gate of his place; And they shall say unto the elders
of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not
obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men
of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou
put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear."
Leviticus 20:9 "For every one that curseth his father
or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father
or his mother; his blood shall be upon him ..."
6. Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
Exodus 21:12 "He that smiteth a man, so that he die,
shall be surely put to death."
Exodus 21:22-25 "If men strive, and hurt a woman with
child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow:
he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will
lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any
mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye,
tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning,
wound for wound, stripe for stripe."
7. Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Leviticus 20:10 "And the man that committeth adultery
with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his
neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely
be put to death."
Deuteronomy 22:22 "If a man be found lying with a woman
married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the
man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away
evil from Israel."

damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then
the man only that lay with her shall die: But unto the damsel thou

8. Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
Exodus 22:2-3 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten
that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him. If the sun be
risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should
make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold
for his theft.

9. Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false

Mosaic Law, Ten Commandments - other references to commandments
Ex. 20:1-17 The Ten Commandments were given to the Israelites at
Sinai.
2 Ch. 31:3; Neh. 8:2, 3, 8, 14, 18; Ps 19:7 God gave Israel a single
law which included the Ten Commandments.
Mal. 4:4 Israel was commanded to obey the Law of Moses; the law
included the Ten Commandments.
Rom. 10:4 Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone
who believes.
Christ is the end of the law because he nailed it to the cross
(cf. Col. 2:11-14).
Jesus came to fulfill the law (Matt. 5:17). Since Jesus fulfilled
the law, we can be saved in Christ (cf. Acts 4:12; Rom. 3:24; 6:3;
Gal. 3:27; 2 Tim. 2:1, 10), walking according to the Spirit (Rom.
8:1-4).
Rom. 3:20; Gal. 2:16 No one is justified by the works of the law.

FOLLOW THE COMMANDMENTS
Jesus said in John 10:35, "Scripture cannot be broken."
This statement was made after he had said in John 5:46-47, "For
had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of
me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my
words?"
1st. Commandment, Exodus 20:3 "Thou shalt have no other gods
before me."
The punishment - Deuteronomy 17:3-5 "And hath gone and served
other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any
of the host of heavens, which I have not commanded. Then shalt thou
bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked
thing and shalt stone them with stones, till they die"
More punishment - Exodus 22:20 "He that sacrificeth unto any
god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed."
New Testament punishment - Mark 16:16 "He that believeth not,
shall be damned."
3rd. Commandment, Exodus 20:7 "Thou shalt not take the name
of the Lord in vain."
The punishment - Leviticus 24:16 "And he that blasphemeth
the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death,"
New Testament punishment - Matthew 12:32 "Whosoever speaketh
against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in
this world, neither in the world to come."
Mark 3:29 - "He that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost
hath never forgivness, but is in danger of eternal damnation,"

The list of curses and punishments for not believing in God is
long. Following the ten Commandments, which are also listed in Deuteronomy
5:7-21, there are a number of curses for not following the commandments.
These curses are given in Deuteronomy 28: 17-68. Space does not
permit all of them to be quoted, but a few are that the Lord will
"smite thee" with consumption, fever, hemorrhoids, scab,
madness, blindness, boils, and and many more even worse.

Deuteronomy 14: 6-10, "If thy brother, the son of thy mother,
or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend,
which is of thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us
go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy
fathers; Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him;
neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither
shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand
shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the
hand of all the people. Thou shalt stone him with stones, that he
die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the Lord thy
God.
A FEW TEACHINGS FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT
Luke 19:27 "But those mine enemies, which would not that I
should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."
Revelations 2:21-23 Jesus says, "And I will kill her children
with death."
Romans 1:29-32 "Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate,
deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful,
proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they
which commit such things are worthy of death.

for you. If you will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart
