Here's a particularly stoopid wingnut article trying to "prove" that improvements to healthcare would kill us all.

The article claims that in the UK there is a formula that determines what kind of care you get.

The best part of the article is this bit:

The more points you have, the more your life is considered worth saving, and the likelier you are to get care.

People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.

I have no idea why the idiot author picked Stephen Hawking but its hilarious that he did.

Stephen Hawking was born in the UK and has lived his entire life there. Far from "proof that the UK system is horrible", Hawking is living proof that the UK system is not all that bad.

In fact, if Hawking had been born in the US, he would be dead by now since there is not a single insurance company in the US that would have covered him. And if forced to cover him the companies would do everything in their power to deny as much coverage as possible.

So the correct statement should be:

People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.S., where the private insurance system would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless to their bottom lines.
