TIL: WKRP Closing Lyrics Were All Gibberish
And here I thought I was just remembering them wrong...
I never was much for lyrics, so imagine my surprise to learn famous lyrics I never could understand just happen to have been deliberately impossible to understand:
According to people who attended the recording sessions, Ellis didn't yet have lyrics for the closing theme, so he sang nonsense words to give an idea of how it would sound. Wilson decided to use the words anyway, since he felt that it would be funny to use lyrics that were deliberately gibberish
Well, that cleared up that confusion from my childhood.
